Project based consulting
Curious to see how using tools from biomimicry and circular economy can help shape better solutions for you on your way to sustainability?
We are happy to put our competences to your service!
Below you will find a few examples of the broad spectrum of projects we have been involved with. You will find more about our competencies on the Contact Us page.
Pasteurising unit concept - Designit
A concept study for an eggs pasteurisation device designed by Designit for the EU program SafeConsume to prevent salmonella related diseases.
Our involvement in the project started after a few design choices were already made and we decided to explore biomimetic solutions to solve functions related to temperature regulation in the device. The process was following:
Mapping of natural organisms and their strategies for temperature regulation
Evaluation of potential transfer of the strategies into our product
Concept drawings of the solutions
From coffee grounds to mushroom - Gruten
Gruten is an Oslo based company collecting coffee grounds to upcycle them to soap, body scrub and now gourmet mushrooms.
In 2018 Gruten decided to set up Norway’s first ever mushroom farm on coffee grounds in Vollebekk, Oslo as a part of the Vollebekk Fabrikker project.
We helped developing the concept of the farm, keeping circularity in mind as much as possible as it is part of the core identity of Gruten. Our involvement included:
Designing solutions for the farm
Finding as much as possible second hand material for the construction
Developing some designs for the potential final look of the farm
Hands on work building the farm
We are currently working on the business model and potential new offerings of the company.
The year-round garden - Powerhouse Høvik
Powerhouse Høvik is a private project with the ambition to tear down an existing house in a way that all materials can be re-used and building the first-ever Powerhouse certified private house in its place.
We looked at the food production potential for indoors and outdoors cultivation, before being asked to focus on the outdoors. the project was integrated in Michel’s Permaculture Design Course project and developed further thereafter. The design of the outdoors landscape was based on permaculture principles, taking into account the seasonality, habits and capacities of the house owners, making sure it would be low maintenance and with functional and aesthetic considerations for all seasons. The ecosystem and the surroundings of the property were essential factors.
