Shifting matters.

Materials form the building blocks of our products and environment. Material choices greatly influence the impact of an object, as materials dictate what resources and processes can be employed. Our ideal is for materials to reflect the values we want to see implemented around us.

We however analyse a discourse between values we strive for and the material reality. Therefore we facilitate waste-to-resource projects, bio-based material workshops, and material driven design exercises.

From waste to resource

Whether in manufacturing, production, or food industry, or even agriculture and forestry, by-products, left-overs or waste are to be found. However, just as in nature, waste for one, is a resource for another. We aim to address and convert the notion of waste into that of a resource. For businesses to thrive, in harmony with people and planet, we develop strategies to achieve circular value chains that fully utilise the resources available in a region.
This is a cross-disciplinary process, where new partnerships can be formed, and communal value created for different stakeholders, nature included.

Bio-based &

bio-degradable materials

To name a few: bioplastics of algae biomass, biodegradable in water; bio-composites utilising coffee grounds, sawdust, or seafood waste; plant-based leather-like materials, are among the materials we can prototype.
Learn how to make your own bio-based material samples using abundant natural resources and waste. Materials are often a given, but can just as well be created and developed to contribute to alternative, sustainable material realities.
It is an experimental and cross-disciplinary process, a breeding ground for material innovation.
